After over 5 hours constant travel, I’m finally home. What a journey. I left the office nice and early as usual at 5:45pm to head to the metro to catch the 6pm train to the airport. Unfortunately the 6pm train didn’t stop, it just went straight through the station. As did the 6:15 train to. Getting edgy, to my relief the 6:30 train did stop and I was on my way.
Busy but uneventful all the way to the airport, check in was fairly stress free. Quick stop at a shop and a loo before heading through to departures, my heart dropped as I turned the corner and was faced with this queue.
Now I know the brit stereotype says we like to queue but this was ridiculous. 30 minutes later I’m still stood in it, getting nervous as my flight was due to board in 10 minutes and still had security to go but I was near the front so was pretty confident I’d make it. Then right as I was about to go through….. Security alert. Yep – unattended bag. Am hour we were all stood there waiting for security and then bomb disposal all because someone forgot their shopping.
By now its 9pm and my flight was due to take off at 8:55…. When it finally reopens I storm through passport control and security and to my utter relief have managed to make my flight with SECONDS to go. As in the attendant was walking down the gangway with the dispatch papers and had to be called back. It seems the flight had a 15 minute delay due to late arrival and they had only started boarding until 8:55 much to my great luck.
So, I’m finally home!! Paris CDG is truely my most jinxed airports.
