How To Make Your Own Dandelions

30th November 2018

How To Make Your Own Dandelions - blog post header

Before the chaos of Christmas and all things red and green decends, I wanted to share this really quick make with you. One of the Bears favourite flowers are dandelions. We live on the edge of an overgrown green space, a space that gets littered with dandelions each year. My two love nothing better than picking them, making wishes as they do.

Darcie noticed the other day that they were all gone and no amount of explanation about the seasons would console her of the fact that she couldn’t pick some dandelions. So, we thought we would make our own. Here’s how to make your own dandelions. A quick and easy craft for adults or children to create fabulous flowers. Perfect for play or simply to display.

WHAT WE USED

This really is the most simple thing to create. All we used to make our own dandelions was some wool, a fork, a green pipe cleaner and some scissors. All of which we had in our craft kit.

WHAT WE DID

I can’t find the original source of using a fork to do this as all I have managed to find are pictures rather than a link, but it’s a genious idea. All you need to do is hold a pipe cleaner along the length of a fork and wrap the wool around both the pipe cleaner and the fork. The more wool you use, the fuller your dandelion will be.

Once you’re happy with the thickness, twist the pipe cleaner tightly to secure. Slide the wool off the fork and cut the loops to open the dandelion seeds.

We also folded the pipe cleaner up on itself and twisted again, making a little loop at the bottom to hold them. This make it more sturdy for displaying in little vases as well as more fun for little hands to hold and play with.

There we have it. How to make your own dandelions – I told you they were super simple to make!

Taking only minutes to make, before we knew it we had a lovely little bunch of dandelions to pick, blow and play with. The good things about these is that they last for much longer too and there are no tears when all the seeds are gone. Why not make some today?

  • My feed may be full of hearts and chocolates but there's no doubt that Papa Bear knows me so well! @alexcv8 FEET ❤️
  • This boy ❤️❤️❤️
After a false start at potty training in the new year, he suddenly took a proper interest at the weekend and told us he was going to be a "big boy".
.
Fast forward 5 days and he's not only not had an accident all week, but he's also woke up bone dry every morning AND ditched the dummy. The real test will be out over the weekend, but where has my baby gone?!
  • I love it when the post man brings book treats through the door!! The question is, what do I read first?
.
I really enjoyed keeping track of what I read last year so I thought I would bring that forward in to 2019. Rather than having individual book reviews, I thought I would simply look back on what I read in the past month and share my thoughts. .
Therefore, if you’re looking for some book inspiration, then I've been looking back on January over on the blog today. It's definitely been a bit of a mixed selection…..link in bio.
  • This girl ❤️❤️❤️
Funny and infuriating, loving and volatile. I wouldn't have it any other way.
.
We've had a fabulous birthday party at the ice cream farm today and stretched it out with a trip to Charlie's. If you live our way and have heard of Charlie's then you now know we're a lot lighter in the purse. I hope your Saturday has been a good one!
  • The snow has pretty much dissappeared here now but I can't resist sharing these beauties from my wander through our village on Wednesday. Moooo!!
  • As the country was covered in white today, our childcare was snowed in at home. That left us with an extra day at home and the dilemma of what do you actually do when the dreaded snow day arrives but there is actually work you really do need to do from home?! Is it really possible to work from home and look after small children?
.
That's exactly what I'm chatting a about over on the blog today (link in bio). So, what do you do?
.
Ps. How gorgeous are these two 😍😍😍
