The reason I started this little blog of mine was to record those moments which make ordinary life a little extraordinary. However, with two jobs, two kids, a cat, a house and a husband – I seem to have lost that a little recently. So, welcome back to a little weekly update on some of the things we’ve been up to.
These are the posts designed for me to look back on when I’m old with an empty nest, so I hope you don’t mind indulging me once a week.
This week has been a mixed bag. We’ve all been ill with a horrendous cough that has been slowing us down by day and keeping us up at night. Henry has come off the worst, but Darcie and I have followed close behind. Then – this weekend – even Papa Bear has the start of a sore throat.
We haven’t let that stop us though as we’ve still managed to make the most of a glorious weekend and squeeze in a lot. Including a visit to the park, a trip to Erddig’s Wolf’s Den, a ride on the Llangollen horse-drawn boat trip, a visit to swimming swiftly followed by soft play and then a cinema trip to watch How To Train Your Dragon. Phew! Not bad for one weekend!!!
Where oh where did my baby go. This girl is now 4 going on 14 and goodness do we know it. Both her attitude and her humour are frustrating and hilarious in equal measure. The quote of the week came today when working on her phonics homework and looking for the sound to “i” (as in ink), I exclaimed to her “Darcie, I have one. What kind of animal is Peppa?!” Her answer? “Sausages”. To be fair….she’s not really wrong……
This little man has been a SUPERSTAR! He has been completely dry day and night now for two weeks after telling us that he wanted to be a big boy. And a big boy he has been; giving up both his nappies and his dummies in the same week. He’s never looked back and we could not be prouder even if I am a little sad that my last baby is now growing up so quickly.
