Hubby was away with work this week from Sunday evening to Wednesday night on a course and although he enjoyed it and passed with flying colours (yippee! – as if we were in any doubt he would) we missed him like mad. We’re a little team and when one of us is away we really feel it. The bear missed him too and although she’s not able to say anything yet, you could see her looking for him in the morning and she was extra clingy when being dropped off anywhere as if she was afraid that I would be going somewhere too. You should have seen her little face when she saw him though, someone definitely loves her daddy!
Thursday was our girlie catch up dinner and then by day the Bear and I met up with a friend for a lovely visit around the zoo – it was the first time our girls had met and they seemed to have a lovely time together. Definitely to be repeated!
Friday night was my best friends new pub opening. This was a big deal as not only did it mean a date night for hubby and I so we could go along and support, but it was actually the first time the Bear has ever stayed out overnight without us. We were nervous but also excited about this! She did amazing! Her Nanny and Grumpy reported that she was a little angel and no trouble at all – she even slept through with no problems! This is a big relief as we want her to start staying over somewhere once a month in the lead up to the baby arriving as if I end up with a section, she will definitely need to be used to staying out!
On Saturday we went over into Manchester for a showing of a My First Ballet: Sleeping Beauty (as you can tell it’s been a busy week!) This is basically toddler friendly showings of ballet’s and we were really excited to take the Bear along. It was a mixed success….she was captivated to start with and at times couldn’t take her eyes off the stage, however the performance was about 20 mins too long for her as she got bored of being stuck in cramped seats. It wasn’t just her though as you could hear in the restlessness of the kids in the auditorium. The performance was stunning though and the costumes beautiful so I’m really glad we went. Plus it’s been so long since we saw anything inlive theatre the hubby and I really enjoyed it!
Then finally yesterday we went to the Wales Comic Con….not necessarily our usual scene but it was actually great fun and something different. I have to admit as a Buffy / Red Dwarf / Only Fools and Horses / Supernatural / LotR fan in a previous life when I used have time to indulge such things…I got a little star struck at times as they were all well represented! Sylvester McCoy was even there.
A lot of blogs this week….I’ve taken a renewed interest in what other people are reading now I have a little more time post-dissertation. It’s refreshing to open your eyes and see what’s being written by ‘ordinary’ people once in a while.
On the book front I’ve just started a trashy romance novel….not quite mills & boon but in that region. More because I just can’t decided what to read next so it’s filler material until I finally decided to pick up the next book.
As I’ve been on my own a lot this week, I’ve been catching up on season 4 of Suits on Netflix. It been on there a while but I’ve just not got around to it yet. I discovered suits a few years ago while on maternity leave and can’t recommend it enough if you want some good entertaining binge watching material!
The Bear’s little voice which is so cute; she’s really softly spoken but wow – she really knows her own mind. Now if only we could understand what she’s saying! Sentences and context are getting better though as in addition to ‘Let it Go’ as a string of works we also have things like ‘this way’ coming out now in addition to her single word vocabulary growing by the day. The favourite new word of the weekend was flower.
A vision board!! It’s not something I’ve ever been interested in before but when it was set as a challenge I thought it was worth a go and I’m really glad I did it.
Pregnancy update….28 weeks and apparently the baby is now a little more than 1 kg and approximately 38 cm’s from top to toe. S/he now blinks and has eyelashes!
12 weeks to go and the nursery basics are in (carpet fitted / walls painted / furniture built) and now I need to find the touches to make it a cosy room for Bean. I’ve also started going through all of the Bear’s old clothes. We have quite a bit of gender neutral first sizes but other than that it really will work out a lot cheaper if Bean turns out to be a girl!
