So…..I’m not really an online ranter / formal letter of complaint kinda girl. I’m more of a moan in OH’s ear until he gets feed up and tells me to shut it or until I run out of steam kinda girl who means to complain, but to be honest never gets around to it. But (c’mon, you knew there was a but coming!!) oh my days – Harveys furniture store. Where do I start.
I have tried to be patient and understanding because at the end of the day we’re all people but this is now getting beyond a joke. I placed an order over the telephone on May 4th with the promise of delivery in 10 weeks and a receipt that will follow in the post. This all sounded great and at this point I am a happy customer – three cheers for the soon to be in our living room new cuddler chair!!
However, then the chasing began – 6 calls in total – as lets be honest it shouldn’t take more than a few days for a receipt to arrive. More chasing…..more chasing….more chasing…..(at this point the poor postman is getting a bad reputation). The lack of delivery date is fair enough as we were still within the 10 promised weeks. However, it should not be too much to ask for a receipt of my purchase considering they took a large sum of money from me.
So lets fast forward to last week where I made my 5th phonecall to be told my order was due for delivery on the 1st July and will be with them on the 2nd and therefore to expect a call – oh and “I am very sorry I don’t know what’s happened before – it must have gotten lost in the post (poor postie!) – but your receipt is definitely in the post to you. I am doing it for you now” (or words to that effect). All great news and I’m back to being happy – or so I thought. Unfortunately in reality not so much….
Today I rang AGAIN exactly a week after call number 5 and still no receipt and no call for delivery. Unfortunately my order is apparently due in on the 14th now. Oh, and the person checked their internal post tray and my receipt is there.
A week later.
Still waiting to be posted.
So I am now still with no receipt for the money they quite happily took from me over 10 weeks ago but with no proof and no order number and with ANOTHER arrival date where I have no idea if it will actually turn up again and still no idea when I will receive my order.
To me the basics of commerce are simple. Purchaser buys goods, purchaser receives proof of purchase, purchaser receives goods and if there is a delay, purchaser is kept informed. Simple right?! Unless of course you order from Harvey’s!
Fantastic Customer Service? I think not. Not that they will actually care of course as they already have my money. Ok…..so I’m telling myself to shut up now but using a company that prides itself on customer service should not be this difficult.
End rant. Normal sunny disposition service will now resume. Hopefully.
Ps. Yes I did write an email of complaint….I have become THAT woman!!!
