There’s nothing worse than being ill (1) when you have a baby, (2) when it’s the weekend, and (3) when said weekend is already full and action packed!
Which unfortunately has just happened as I woke up poorly on Saturday morning with what I can only assume was a bout of food poisoning. I won’t go into details as I’m sure you’ve been there and know what it entails but let’s just say it’s not been fun!
However as I’ve emerged from my sick bed of self pity; let’s catch up on the weekend.
Hubby was working in the morning so we had a girlie coffee catch up with a close friend and her little girl and some shopping while he was busy.
Afterwards we hit the movies along with grandma !! The bear and I used to go to baby cinema while I was off on maternity leave but we haven’t been since she’s been bigger. As you can see from the look on her face, she want sure where on earth she was and what to make of it at first and couldn’t take her eyes off the giant TV!
We saw minions (which was ok but no where near as good as despicable me…. I have to be honest and say that on their own they’re kind of annoying ! ) however bar a blip with a scary trailer which she DID NOT like, the bear did awesome. Was riveted to the screen for the first half, had her bottle then fell asleep for the second half. Exactly what we’d hoped for.
It’s not something we’d do often but it’s great to know we have it as an option now and then should an age appropriate film come up.
Sunday was all about birthdays as one of the bears little friends turned 1. It was a lovely day which doubled as her naming ceremony.
We saw friends we hadn’t seen for an age so it was great to catch up. This little madam fell in love with a car which daddy promptly bought her on amazon while we were there – the convenience (and danger!) of modern technology.
To be fair she loved it!! And her little friend who is 3 loved it too so hopefully she’ll get a lot of use out of it.
Weekend Verdict: feeling like super(sick)mama
So, I’m proud that I managed to survive the weekend despite it being full and me being sick but it’s shown me 2 things :
1. It’s better to be out of the house. In the house you fester, outside you just get on with it.
2. The fact is I’m a mummy now so you have no choice but to get on with it. Granted the hubster has been awesome this weekend and has picked up where I’ve slacked (thank you!), but there’s just more important things now.
