I’ll be honest and say that this week hasn’t particularly been my favourite as early on it will filled with chaos organising a birthday party that never took place and then finished with a very poorly little girl that has been so miserable. It’s absolutely heart breaking to see and hear your little one’s in pain and upset.
However, the week was split by a lovely day spent celebrating the bear’s first birthday – a great day where we spent it as a family and what we now know was the calm before the storm and the chicken pox spots appeared!!
In amongst the chaos of this week I managed to finish Jessie Keane’s Dangerous . It was just what was needed for me to relax for an hour in the evening after managing to get the bear down to sleep and if you’re a fan of Martina Cole or Manda Sue Heller you’ll really enjoy it.
Unfortunately I’ve mainly watched my little girl upset this week but seeing as from Tuesday until Saturday all she wanted was her mummy preferably cuddled up on the sofa and not moving; it meant that Netflix too a hammering!
This week we did a few Disney movies (of course! – mandatory when you’re feeling poorly) which included Mulan and Wreak it Ralph and then Mama hit a box set too and managed to make her way through the remainder of season 3 of Suits. I discovered this series on a recommendation from a friend when I was on maternity leave and I love love love it!
Although there has been a lot of crying this week, we did also have a lot of laughter too as of course it was birthday week and someone loved all their presents. We even managed to take the car for a spin around the drive way!
Scruffs! A lot of time spent at home meant a lot of late mornings in pj’s and then scruffy clothes for comfort. Think baggy bottoms and vest tops. It’s not been attractive!
Luckily I hadn’t started THE cake before the spots appeared and her birthday party was cancelled, I did have plenty of ingredients to use up so we’re currently treated with some Victoria sponge and a lemon drizzle cake in the house.
This wasn’t a great week to start healthy eating!!
That’s it really….we are currently a sleep deprived pair of parents who are trying to provide as many cuddles as possible to a little girl who is poorly and is too young to understand what is happening. On the positive side though, she is young enough not to remember this and to hopefully be able to cover most of the pox with long sleeves and trousers to minimise itching and avoid scarring.
Poor little lady.
