So, its been a really bad year for customer service in our household.
First of all there was my drama with Harvey’s furniture and now it’s all about cars. For anyone that is Chester, Wirral or North Wales based do not…..I repeat DO NOT use A41 Car Sales. There the ones based by the garage between the Countess hospital and Chester Zoo.
They are also the ones who are in prize possession of around £300 of our money. Which you know, we have so much spare money now we had a baby and moved house in the past 12 months….or not as the case may be!!
However, let me start at the beginning. Don’t worry, you’ll get the short and ugly version!
Hubby needed new car back at the beginning of June – 5 weeks ago to be exact – and he decided on a Volvo estate as a skip run and camping car (yes I know…..I told him he wasn’t 80 too but he just wasn’t having any of it). He saw one he likes at A41 Car Sales and did the usual barter and agreed a price. Unfortunately that’s where the drama started as halfway home (after filling the car with fuel!) a fault light appeared on the dash.
It all started well as they took the car back and promised to get it fixed which include (in my non technical layman terms) checking the car, changing the filter, resetting the light, sending it to Volvo, sending it to another Volvo dealership as they had been using non standard parts…etc etc – none of it worked apparently. This went on for a month with daily phone calls, chasing and hassle all round.
To be fair to them, (because lets give a balanced review!) for the last week (though 4 weeks with no car and no money!) we have had a replacement vehicle which he had to fight for and it has cost them money to try and put this right, but no offence but that’s their fault for trying to sell a piece of shit car that was riddled with faults.
So here we are five weeks on and today he went to pick up the car – it was finally ready – hurrah!!!
Unfortunately it got as far as the fuel station where he chucked £30 into it and then up the road before the same light came on again. Needless to say he turned straight back around and told them they were taking the piss.
He was given 2 choices: either (1) swap it for a car on the lot which was up for sale at £200 less than the one he had already paid for or (2) wait for his car to be fixed. However no replacement vehicle will be given for him to use in the meantime (we had to hand the replacement we had back today) and they have absolutely no idea when it will be fixed.
Unfortunately that was no choice as we either needed a car or our money back to be able to buy a new one – what a way to do business: hold a young family as hostage.
Now, don’t get me wrong….what is done is done and to be fair I wouldn’t trust that piece of crap to put my child in it but its not the outcome which is horrendous, it’s the way we got there. After 5 weeks of daily phone calls and drama we now own a car which is worth £200 less than what we paid for it, we have lost a full tank of fuel from the original sale plus the £30 which went back in the Volvo today. So all in all around £300 out of pocket. And they’re quite happily sitting there having done that. Even their own staff have said they would have done it differently if it was their business but sadly it isn’t.
The moral of this story never NEVER NEVER buy from these people. If you’re lucky you’ll get what you paid for but if you’re not, they’ll give you the run around, treat you like crap and keep your money.
Needless to say we won’t use them again and really recommend that you don’t either!
