We used a great variety of dribble bibs with Darcie and some of our favourites were from Funky Giraffe. We initially found them at the Mother and Baby Show in Birmingham when I was pregnant first time around and we were instantly attracted to their huge, colourful, and yes ‘funky’ designs. We left their stall with quite a few bibs in hand so when an opportunity came up recently to collaborate with them and do a review on their product, we jumped at the chance!
So when a package arrived in the post a few weeks ago containing Henry’s little stash of goodies; I was a very excited mama to see what was inside – don’t judge, this is what happens when you have babies…..bibs are exciting news in a drool filled mama’s day! I am so pleased to say though that they did not disappoint, as two things immediately stood out: firstly the patterns! The colours were vibrant and the designs great fun which is exactly what I was looking for. Secondly was how soft they were. I remember from Darcie that they have always been fleece backed but the new delivery was so soft and felt amazing. I immediately thought he would find them comfortable to wear and judging by that smile, it seemed that he did.
First of all we have the look: mummy loved the designs and also the fact that the amount of drool which has started to escape from Henry’s mouth is being captured in something other than his clothes. As a bandana design, the fit is great as it tucks under his chin(s) well, and the double poppers at the back mean that it is adjustable and will grow with him. Definitely needed at the rate this little mans chins are growing!
Next is wear and tear: we’ve been using them for around 2 weeks now and I am pleased to say that they are standing up to the drool (and sick!) test. The top cotton layer holds well while the fleece polyester backing ensures that baby and their clothes stay dry. Much needed when you have a dribble monster. They have washed, and maybe more importantly tumble dried well in a standard 40 degree wash and have come out just as soft as they went in. They have also come out the same shape as they went in which sadly cannot be said of some of the other bibs I have encountered over the years.
So how much do these set you back? Individually these bibs retail at £4 per bib but they have some great deals including an offer of 10 bibs for £20 which if you have kids yourself, you already know that all 10 will be put to good use. The great range of boy, girl and unisex designs mean that you’ll have 10 in your shopping cart before you know it. Not the cheapest that you can get hold of, but in my opinion they represent great value for money.
THE VERDICT: I cannot recommend these bibs enough. As a mummy I am not only looking for something practical that copes with the amazing volumes of drool a baby manages to produce in a day, but I also want something fun and bold. I love colour and I find these designs are a breath of fresh air in a multitude of grey or blue stripes or stars which seem to be out there on the market for boys at the moment. Well made, they are a quality product which you can immediately see and feel and we cannot wait to expand our collection using their 10 for £20 deal. You can find them over Funky Giraffe Bibs.
