So apparantly today is Batman Day! Who knew?! I certainly didn’t until earlier this week but apparantly the tradition started 4 years ago when the man in the mask turned 75. So, he’s not looking too bad for an 79 year old is he?!
So, to get involved and and celebrate with him, we have been asked to review the new DC Super Friends Interactive Power Punch Batman. We thought Holy Smokes…..why not!
First of all he is a plush toy so is super soft to the touch but with posable arms which gives a little more strength and sturdiness that you would usually find with a cuddly toy. This Batman is so much more though, as first of all his fists are touch sensitive which make the kind of comic punch noises you would expect from Batman when you hit them. Not only that though, as press his chest and you will hear a selection of his famous catch phrases as well as watch as his eyes light up.
Darcie is soft toy crazy so immediately ran to claim ownership. Sadly for Batman though he was neither pink enough, nor enough of an animal to keep her attention (sorry Bruce) but what was her loss was Henry’s gain. In our house at the moment that is very much how toy ownership seems to work, however the little man is starting to find his strength to fight back and claim the toys he wants, and Batman certainly caught his eye.
The fists were touch senstive enough to make the noises when he grabbed them much to his delight and he loved it when the eyes lit up. Granted he has absolutely no idea who Batman is (yet!) or what the phrases mean so for now he’s just enjoying the sounds while his Dad and I reminisce over the phrases!
Batman stands at about 36cm tall and needs 3 x AAA to work. However, these are provided so it’s just the replacements that you need to worry about. It’s suitable for ages 10 months and over and is currently available from Argos as well as other retailers.
The downside? Well, as per the product description: “this toy does not provide protection”. However it does provide a lot of fun!
