Since the Beans arrival the days have merged into one, especially as hubby is still off work so there’s no weekends to differentiate the days. The plan had been to keep busy though and ensure we’re getting out and about for the Bear – even if it’s just a trip to the park – so she doesn’t end up bored and resentful of her new little brother.
This weekend was a lovely example as Saturday their (eek – am still not used to having 2 kids!) Nanny and Grumpy popped in for a visit and we had a little jaunt to a local park. We chose the one very wet half hour of the entire day to actually go into the park so it was cut a little short by an early lunch, but we didn’t let that spoil our fun….there’s not much a bright spotty anorak can’t help fix in the British summertime!
Sunday was a little more relaxed as hubby took the Bear to her last swimming lesson of the term and gave the Bean and I a much needed lie in – gratefully received as these early days newborn nights are brutal!
Grandma came to visit with some goodies for Henry and a food care package for us (thank you – we’ve already cracked open the lasagne!). One of the Bears little friends also popped in for an impromptu paydate along with her parents who got to enjoy some newborn cuddles – something the Bean is already great at giving out.
It’s so strange to see how shy the Bear is; around us she’s a proper little chatterbox but put her into a new environment or around new people and it takes her so long to warm up and come out of herself. Give her an hour or so though and she’s back running around like the little whirlwind we know and love!
