22 books in 2022 reading challenge
I don’t make it a secret that I use books to escape. When life gets too intense, when I need to relax or just when I just want to be entertained, I reach for a book and get lost in its pages. I’ve always loved to read and it’s something I brought with me from my childhood.
I love the written word and the emotions it can evoke which it probably the reason why I managed to plough through a massive 75 books in 2021; my biggest reading year since my university days.
This year myself and the fabulous Laura from Edinburgh Life With Kids are indulging our love of books and have come up with this little challenge to help us push ourselves out of our comfort zone when it comes to reading. We were looking for something to get involved in and because there was nothing already out there which caught our attention, we decided to simply make our own. Because…..well, why not!
There are 22 themes for us to try and get through over the next 12 months and along the way we’re going to be posting a mixure of recommendations for each of the categories, discussion points and reviews as well as just generally sharing our love of books and reading. Sometimes here, sometimes on Instagram and of course sometimes over on Laura’s blog too. I have no doubt I’ll end up reading more than the 22 in this challenge – in fact I’ll be aiming for my usual 52 – but this is just a little challenge on top of that personal target.
If this sounds like your cup of tea then we would love for you to join in and jump into the coversation at #22booksin2022. You can follow the themes, or perhaps just aim for any 22 books this year. The idea is to just pick up and book and enjoy reading.
