My Husband’s Lover by Jess Ryder book tour | AD

After a few festive reads I was excited to get back into a thriller for a change of pace. My Husband’s Lover by Jess Ryder certainly provided that! Here’s what I thought.

WHAT I THOUGHT ABOUT MY HUSBANDS LOVER

This is an intense read and one that kept me hooked throughout. Recovering from her husband’s affair, Sophie starts a wild swimming club as a way to escape the pressure of rebuilding her marriage and forgiving him. So, when one of the women suggests a week away on a digital detox holiday in the middle of nowhere with plenty of loch swimming, Sophie leaps at the chance.

Things start to go wrong though when Sophie finds out that not only is the affair not over, but the woman is part of her swimming club. The problem is though she doesn’t know who. As Sophie’s paranoia influences reality, it’s clear things are not going to end well.

Well written and filled when tension as you know something is going to happen but you’re just not sure what, My Husbands Lover keeps you turning page after page.

I will admit that Sophie as a character gets rather annoying after a while, as she reacts to some things in such a strange way. However, I do like how flawed and damaged she is. It is clear that she is not a sweet and innocent victim in it all which gives the story more depth. A great winter read, this was great to curl up with on a cold night with a warm brew!
