The rainbows are up!! It’s taken us until week three to finally get our rainbow in the window because … well to be honest the kids just weren’t feeling it until now. With so much up in the air at the moment I am aware that the kids must be feeling unsettled by everything and I’m just not sweating the small stuff.
It’s been an interesting week. Not only have we finished our second week in semi-lockdown, but we have also moved from March into April. I can’t believe that 4 weeks ago we were worried about the level of flooding across the UK, and we were watching the Bear in her first dance show. So, here we are. One week into a chaotic world of a semi lockdown, home schooling, work from home, try not to maim each other life. Here is what we have learnt this week.
Today is our third day home schooling and our second day on lockdown. My kids are currently sat enjoying a movie while they eat their lunch – despite it being a lovely day outside – and I’m grabbing a quick 15 minutes at my laptop while they’re happy. Is this normal? No. Is this structured learning? No. Am I bothered? No.
This week’s ordinary moment was taken in a very small window of opportunity yesterday afternoon when Storm Ciara quietened down a little. There wasn’t much we could do as all the roads around out village were flooded, but we still managed to grab our scooters and bikes for a little fresh air. The Bear is loving the Little Man’s balance bike at the moment for some reason and we all loved grabbing the opportunity to get outside for an hour.
