An Alternative Fathers Day

This post is a collaboration. Thank you for supporting the posts which make this blog possible.

It’s already mid-May, Spring is well and truly upon us now and Father’s Day is already around the corner. We have a house that is absolutely rammed full of stuff, so we just don’t need more things to add to the pile. Therefore, this Father’s Day I’ve been looking at experiences over gifts as a way to show the Dad’s in our lives how much they mean to us.

Using Groupon as inspiration I started to have a look through some of Groupon’s best deals for a day out in Liverpool – one of our closest cities – and these are some of the amazing things I was able to find.

FOR THE DAD WHO WANTS TO SPEND IT WITH HIS KIDS

Now some hate soft play and others love it, but for the Dad who simply want to spend it with his young children, then it’s a great option. Watch the children burn off energy and launch themselves through floor after floor of soft play fun. Most soft play centres offer catering facilities meaning Dad’s and their little ones can fill up hungry tummies while they’re there.

FOR THE DAD WHO LIKES TICKETS

Those tickets can be for anything depending on what that particular Dad enjoys. Think live music at an arena gig, tickets to a football, rugby match or the track, or even something local like VIP tickets to a local club. The ‘what’ doesn’t matter as much of the sentiment that says you know what he enjoys and would like him to do just that.

FOR THE DAD WHO LIKES A TIPPLE

It used to be that this kind of thing was limited to wine tasting, but more and more you will find other alcohol related experiences such as whiskey and gin tasting as well as cocktail making events. Therefore, no matter what his favourite drink is – wine, beer or spirits – you should be able to find a boozy experience to match his palette.

FOR THE DAD WHO LIKES ADVENTURE

For the Dad who likes a little bit of adventure in his life, then what about running around a woodland area in camouflage and with a gun in his hand? The gun will be a paintball gun and the adventure will be nonstop as he races around, tracking down the enemy while working hard to ensure he in turn is not discovered.

FOR THE DAD WHO LIKES SPEED

Not quite in Liverpool, but not too far away is Oulton Park. No doubt there will be some adrenaline junkie Dad’s out there and for them, what about a track day? With many options available such as passenger rides in a supercar, track tuition where you can rent a car and instructor for the day to try your hand at the wheel. Or there are even ‘arrive a drive’ options available where you can drive your own car on a open track. Not interested in cars? Then what about a Helicopter city tour instead across the skies of Liverpool instead? A great option for anyone who hasn’t had the experience before.

So, there we have it. A few options for those Dad’s in your life who already have everything. Or – if you’re like us – you just don’t need any more stuff in our house. As for what we will choose…. well, you’ll have to wait and see as too many Papa Bear eyes will be reading this post!
