Decorating your fridge can be a lot of fun, especially if you do it with your kids. But what should you do? What works?

Family Calendar

You could start with something simple, like a family calendar. Lots of people are interested in these, especially at the start of the year when they are trying to turn over a new leaf. 

Family calendars can be a lot of fun to fill out. Plus, you can now personalize them and hang them on your fridge with magnets. Just choose whatever photos you want to include (including ones of you and your kids). 

Succulent Magnets

Another cool idea is to put succulent magnets on your fridge. What are they, exactly? 

Succulent magnets are essentially conventional fridge magnets with little succulents in them (and a bit of soil to keep the plants alive). These are a fun addition because they add greenness to your kitchen and help to cool the air. 

Succulents don’t require much moisture and they aren’t prickly like cacti, making them more suitable for children. 

Chalkboard Stickers

Another option is chalkboard stickers. These have thin magnetic backings and a black front, allowing you to write on them with chalk. 

These are similar to calendars but allow you to send messages between family members. For example, you could leave the message, “fridge isn’t cooling” to warn people from putting new items in it or doing a big shop at the store. 

Vintage Decals

Another trendy option at the moment is vintage decals. These give refrigerators an older look and pair well with brands that make machines designed to hark back to the past, like Smeg. 

You can match the decals to your kitchen’s current theme. Something that blends in can wind up looking amazing. 

Handmade Artwork

With kids around, you can also decorate your fridge with their hand-made artwork. If they enjoy crafting, this can be an excellent way to get them more interested in putting in the effort. 

Keeping artwork on the fridge for a few months and then replacing it with something new is a great way to make the whole experience more exciting. It’s fun and interesting and makes a massive difference in how the kitchen feels. 

Travel Souvenirs

If you and the kids love going abroad, you could also decorate your fridge with various travel souvenirs. Don’t worry if items don’t have magnetic backings – you can buy these separately and stick them on. 

Full Art Prints

If you’re feeling really brave, you could also consider adding full art prints to your refrigerator door. These give it a completely new feel and can serve as genuine pieces of wall art in your kitchen. While it might not work as well in isolation, these sticky posters can elevate a room enormously and make it feel completely different from before.
