Family Family Life

a great summer so far and a birthday coming up #LittleLoves

It’s been a few weeks since I last did a Little Loves update and since then we’ve been camping, exploring and generally havin fun. So much has happened since the last one back in mid-June that there is no point trying to catch up.Though at the same time not a huge amount as it’s just be everyday life. It’s odd how things work like that isn’t it?!  This week it’s all been about blogmin catch up, a girlie lunch with my oldest friend, playing in the sunshine and making new friends at playgroups.  Here’s our week in pictures:

And now onto this weeks LittleLoves…..

It seems 3 weeks is a long time and I’ve managed to not only finish 600 Hours of Edward by Craig Lancaster but also My Sister and Other Liars by Ruth Dugdall. The first is a fantastic book following 600 hours that changes Edward’s life: a thirty-nine-year-old with Asperger’s syndrome and obsessive-compulsive disorder. The book is such an interesting insight into the challenges that everyday life holds for someone like Edward. Definately worth a read.

It’s obviously been a month protagonists with challenges though as My Sister and Other Liars follows 17 year old Sam – an anorexic who is currently remanded into custody in an eating disorder clinic. It follows her story and explores an inexplicable series of events that put her there.

I’d love to have something exciting to share here but it’s all about the trash at the moment, specifically Love Island. I am not usually one for reality TV and I usually hate this kind of stuff but for some reason I’m hooked!! I guess there’s something to be said for TV you can literally sit down to and not have to think!

We heard the best news earlier this month, my little great nephew Isaac joined us and entered the world. A little late – evidently he was happy where he was – but healthy and utterly beautiful. We managed to get down and meet him last weekend which was great. Although it was an awful 7 hour round trip in the car with 2 kids under 3 thanks to a nightmare drive home! However, it was worth it!

We’ve been making some yummy stew, some fab fridge magnets, these fabulous rainbow stripe mittens (with free knitting pattern) and last week I even made this little anniversary card for my parents.

The fact I have absolutely nothing noteworthy to mention here after almost 3 weeks tells me I really need to up my game in the clothes section here!!

This little man is turning 1 at the weekend….I can’t believe it. The first year went fast with the Bear but that’s nothing compared to how quickly the past 12 months has gone. He even had his first haircut yesterday and is looking so much more grown up: I’m not ready!! He is such a joy though and has developed such an amazing little personality.

We’re celebrating with a little afternoon on Sunday just with grandparents. A little second child syndrome-esque as the Bear had the whole party thing but to be honest…..he’s 1 and he’s oblivious so what’s the point really.  All the grandparents will be there and we’ll have a little party for him to mark the occasion but it’s certainly nothing all out!
