I’ve never made it a secret that my children aren’t great sleepers. Darcie was almost 3 before she started to sleep through the night and Henry at almost the same age, is yet to do it with any regularity. This means that a solid bedtime routine has always been really important for us including a bath, a book and plenty of cuddles. Add all of that to the fact that we are a family of bookworms and we were very excited to have the opportunity to review a new bedtime book from Little Creatures.
WHAT IS “GOES TO SLEEP”?
“Goes to Sleep” is a personalised book aimed to help families establish a good bedtime routine. The Little Creatures team used leading research by the Children’s Sleep Charity, Harvard Medical School and the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney Australia when developing their “Goes to Sleep” book.
WHAT WE THOUGHT
I have to say I am incredibly impressed with our “Goes to Sleep” books. Beautifully illustrated, they are filled with wonderful words that have a soft rhythm suited to bedtime. This book is personalised, putting our children in the middle of the action. Not only does your child’s name appear throughout, but you can pick the gender, colour hair and skin colour to best represent them. What’s more you even get to choose the animals that will feature in their bedtime journey.
The first read through sparked some lovely conversations on what journeys we wanted our dreamclouds to take us on next. For Darcie, she wanted mummy to come with her on a dreamcloud journey to visit a rainbow, a unicorn, sparkles and a mermaid. Not too much eh? Thankfully anything is possible in our dreams.
Overall, this is a beautiful book which really sparked my daughter’s imagination and I would definitely recommend it for anyone who may be looking to establish a good bedtime routine, or just looking for a book to add to their bedtime library.
