A Walk Down Memory Lane with Christopher Robin

When I was a child I loved Winnie-the-Pooh. As in LOVED it. I was with him every page in Hundred Acre Wood as he made memories and had grand adventures with Christopher Robin and his friends. Fast forward into my teenage years and I discovered the Tao of Pooh as well as other philosophical studies of AA Milne’s work and I learned about the philosophical undertones which made sure the simple stories stood the test of time. So, can you imagine my excitement when I heard about the new Christopher Robin movie?!

Even Darcie is excited by it thanks to a rather fabulous delivery this week of two new friends.

A rather fabulous looking bear and tiger arrived on our doorstop from the Christopher Robin movie Winnie the Pooh Plush range. Inspired by the Christopher Robin movie which is due for release on 17 August, these plushies are beautifully vintage in design fitting in perfectly with the original timeline of the books. We were sent both Winnie and Tigger and Darcie could not have been more delighted.

With an age range from birth, I have no doubt that any Pooh lover will adore these plushies whether they are new to the world, just discovering their magic for the first time like my daughter, or if they have already loved them for years (like me!). Beautifully made, these teddies are so incredibly soft you just cannot help but snuggle them. Made my Posh Paws, you expect them to be soft, but I didn’t realise just how beautiful they would be. Like a ‘proper’ teddy complete with muted vintage colours, ready to be squished.

These plushies are more than just a teddy though. The magic and simplicity of the books have been captured in their super soft fur. Their vintage, heritage style gives the impression that they are friends, ready to join you on your adventures. To hold the secrets you whisper to them in the night and to be always be ready with open arms when you need a cuddle.

Now, I am very aware that I am getting incredibly soppy and carried away here, but this is what bears do. They are there for children. Waiting in their arms and their imaginations to take them away some where new, somewhere exciting. Places like Hundred Acre Wood where problems are fixed with the help of your friends in the most fun way possible.

Winnie-the-Pooh is more than just a toy, and more than just a story. He – along with all his friends – represent an innocence which is so often lost too early.

At this point you may be thinking that they are ‘just toys’. To me though, bears and their soft toy friends are different. As an adult, look at the toys which you still have. The ones that have made it through the teenage years. Maybe through university, marriage, divorce, kids……more than likely there is a soft toy in there somewhere. Perhaps not something you physically own any more, but I bet there is at least one in your memory. For me, I have an old battered dog two of my brothers found for me when I was a toddler, a little mouse gifted to me at birth and a little yellow elephant which was the first gift the youngest of my brothers bought for me (back from a Spanish holiday no less!).

That is the kind of gift I think these will be. I can imagine them being bought for unborn children and placed in nurseries to wait for the arrival of their new friends. To be given to toddlers and go on muddy adventures by day and snuggle in bed by night. Or perhaps be given to adults who – like me – look back on Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends with a fondness which is unmatched by any other bear.

Whoever you may be, you have a choice in this range. In addition to Winnie and Tigger than we were sent, there is also a Piglet and Eeyore to complete the collection and all characters are available in 7”, 10” and 20” sizes.

You can find Posh Paws over on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. And should you wish to get your hands on your very own resident of Hundred Acre Wood, then the Christopher Robin Winnie-the-Pooh Plush range are available to buy from Debenhams.

One things for certain, I am so excited for the film and can’t wait until 17 August. As you can probably tell, I am all set and ready for the nostalgia to commence!

DISCLOSURE: we were sent these items for the purpose of this review. As always though, all opinions are my own.
