Caravan Life – where we stayed in 2023
February has arrived and we are already booking things into the diary for trips in Luna mark ii. We got a much better balance last year between trips away in the van and day trips from home and it’s something we’re looking to replicate this year.
For inspiration I’ve been looking back on last year and the sites we enjoyed, and I thought I’d share in case others like the look of any too,
Our season usually starts in the Easter holidays and 2023 was no exception.
Aberech Sands | North Wales
I’ve written about Aberech Sands a few times on the blog as it’s a site we’ve returned to for years. We love the location which is right on the beach and love the free range nature of the site. Flat grass, located right on the beach and with a small pool on site, our kids love the freedom of exploring there. The fact we’ve been quite a few times now means that the kids are happy and comfortable there.
There is also so much to do nearby that we love visiting.

Ferry Meadows Club Campsite | Peterborough
This was such a great trip and a brilliant location as the campsite was right in the heart of Ferry Meadows country park. Maintained by Nene Park, it is one of the largest country parks in the region and we LOVED exploring there. It was beautiful and spacious with so much room to explore. We met up with family on the site and it was a great backdrop to make some great memories.
The nearby train station was the cherry on the cake for my two engine loving boys.
This trip was also very special as it was our last trip in Luna mark i.

Bridlington Club Campsite | Yorkshire
This was by far my favourite trip of 2023. I absolutely LOVED this site which was beautiful, well maintained and felt so safe for my children to explore on their scooters. Everyone was so friendly and it really felt like we had enough room to stretch our legs and roam. The location was great too with so much to do nearby.
It is definitely a place we would love to return to and would 100% recommend. It was also the first trip in our new (to us) caravan and was a brilliant place to start.

Glanllyn Campsite | Bala (North Wales)
This is another site that has become a bit of an annual tradition. It’s near to us and therefore great for a quick weekend exploring the lake. We take our little boat and just enjoy a slower pace for a few days.
Because of its location though and access to the lake, it does get busy. So, if you’re interested in going along, make sure you book in early.

Sandford Holiday Park | Dorset
This is a tricky one. I LOVED the location. This part of Dorset is simply stunning and we had a brilliant week exploring the local area. So, I’d 100% recommend heading down that say. However, the site itself I was less than impressed by. Because it’s a Parkdean resort there was plenty for the kids to do – entertainment, parks and a pool – but the touring part of the site I was less than impressed by.
Rules were not enforced meaning it was LOUD until very late at night, dogs roamed free off lead leaving not so pleasant surprises behind the vans, and there wasn’t much room at all. I’m sure the holiday park would be great if you were in one of the static vans, but the touring aspect wasn’t great for us.

Dinlle Caravan Park | Caernafon
This was another site from last year that I really loved. The site was well maintained and very quiet. The kids had the BEST time riding around on their bikes. Close to the beach, plenty to do nearby and entertainment in the evenings, we had a brilliant weekend. There was even a pool which was such a lovely treat.

Golden Valley Caravan Park | Derbyshire
This ended up being our last trip of the season which is a little sad but it was a great way to finish. It was a meet in the middle location to catch up with family but it turned out to be brilliant. There were three parks of varying sizes, a small crazy golf area, train rides and entertainment for the kids. The cafe on site serving food and drinks on site was such a treat.
Were we were located on the top of the site initially felt like a little out of the way but ended up being brilliant as we were in our own little area. Still close to the top park which had a MASSIVE sand put, but plenty of space for the kids to play.

And that’s it! All the places we stayed in our touring caravan during 2023. I’ve loved this little walk down memory lane and have already seen a few places that I would like to go back and revisit this year.
It’s definitely got me back in the mood for heading out on some caravan adventures!
