What Happens When You Actually Take A Day Off?
This is a collaborative post. Thank you for supporting the posts which make this blog possible.
It sounds simple, doesn’t it? Take a day off, close the laptop, turn off the work emails, and do nothing for a bit… but for many of us, it’s one of the hardest things to do – we feel guilty, restless, or like we shuld be using the time ‘wisely’ (whatever that means!). But the thing is that taking a real break isn’t lazy at all, and it’s actually one of the most productive things you can do. With that in mind, keep reading to find out what happens when you actually take a day off.
Your Brain Gets To Breathe
When you’re working non-stop, your brain starts to run on empty, and even if you’re pushing through tasks, you’re probably not doing your best work. Taking a day off means you can let your mind wander, and that’s when you come up with ideas, solve problems without really having to try, and just feel more like yourself again.
You’re not running away from problems or work, you’re just giving yourself a bit of a break to recharge so you can come back with more energy and less stress. It’s a fact that when people are well rested they work better, and that’s all there is to it.
You Notice The Little Things
A day off gives you time to slow down – you could go for a walk, read a book, bake something just because you feel like it, and so on. You could even just sit on the sofa and so absolutely nothing at all, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
These little moments of quiet are so good for you, and they’ll boost your mood massively. You’ll have the chance to be reminded that life isn’t just about work or rushing through tasks, and you’ll be able to pay more attention to the little things, which makes every day worthwhile.
Your Body Says Thank You
Taking time off helps more than just your mind – it’s good for your body too. You’ll have less tension in your shoulders, you’ll be able to sleep better, and even just a short break from screens can help your eyes feel better. Some people also like to add extra calming habits to their day off like yoga, meditation, or even natural wellness products like the ones CBDistillery offer, and that helps them wind down and relax.
You can do whatever it is that works for you, and there’s no perfect way to do it because everyone’s different. Of course, you can get plenty of ideas from social media and so on, but don’t try to just copy someone else because it needs to be what’s right for you.
You Remember Who You Are
When you’re always working, it’s easy to forget the other parts of who you are and what you like to do. That’s a shame, and it can lead to all kinds of problems, including mental health issues.
A day off lets you get back in touch with the real you, even if it’s been a bit lostunder a load of deadlines and paperwork. Once you find yourself again, you’ll realise there’s more to life and you’ll ideally get back to what you enjoy doing.
