Jumping and Jittering with Jitterbug
Now the Bears are older, we’ve started to dig out the games and enjoy family games afternoons together. We already have a handful of kid’s classic games which we have been given as Christmas gifts, but now we’re sitting down all together we’re on the lookout for something that we can all enjoy. That’s not quite as easy as it sounds as it needs to be engaging enough for Darcie at 4, but simple enough for Henry to be able to still get involved with at 2.
So, when we got the chance to take a closer look at Jitterbug from University Games, we were eager to take a look together.
WHAT IS JITTERBUG?
What is so great about Jitterbug is that it is so simple. The Jitterbug is a rather fabulous looking bug, complete with purple hat. The aim of the game is to attach her legs as quickly as possible. The winner is the person who manages to attach all 4 of their colour legs to the Jitterbug as quickly as possible and press the hat. Sounds simple right? …. wrong!
What makes things a little more difficult is that the Jitterbug lives up to her name and jumps and jitters around. Not only is it tricky (and hilarious) to attach the legs in the first place, but they continue to jump straight back out.
JITTERBUG – OUR VERDICT
We loved this game. It’s simple enough for both of ours who at 2 and 4 clearly understand which colour legs theirs are and that they need to place them all on the Jitterbug. The giggles that come from everyone has she jumps and jiggles around with legs flying everywhere is so much fun to watch.
What I liked though is that I can also use it on another level with Henry who still working on his colours. For him, we often keep the Jitterbug turned off and still. Simply attaching each leg one by one by asking him to find the colour and add in on. Once we’ve done them all, we turn on our Jitterbug and happily watch on with glee as she bounces around and all the legs fall out. We then of course start again!
In summary, this is a great game. Suitable from 12 months upwards, it’s wonderful to find something that little ones can join in with and play along. With bold and beautiful colours, Jitterbug not only looks great but also provides plenty of jitter themed fun for the whole family. This has quickly become a favourite and something we all enjoy playing together.
